Students asking you to do work for them

After taking all of these steps to promote tutee independence, you may still be faced with a tutee asking you to do the work for them. You are not doing them any favors by completing their work nor will you have the same satisfaction at the end of the session.

When posed with the question “Why don’t you just do it for me?” which would NOT be a good response.

Choice 1 I am not doing you any favors by doing the work for you.
Choice 2 Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats forever
Choice 3 You're right, let me do it
Choice 4 I have already done the work myself. That is why I am tutoring.
